Wu Qingyun, courtesy name Shixian, art name Pomo Daoren (Ink-Splashing Daoist), renowned in the art world for his unique misty and rainy landscape paintings.
He innovatively integrated traditional Chinese ink painting techniques with Western watercolor techniques, often splashing ink on moistened paper to render scenes of wind, rain, and ink-laden hues with a saturated, luminous effect. As the founder of the "Misty Cloud School" he was a quintessential representative of the Shanghai School's fusion of Chinese and Western styles.
