mounted with regimental brass Waterloo Eagle, with enclosed document pocket in lined patent leather, with flap cover with leather strap attachment and brass button catch, with three brass suspension rings at top

The sabretach [1854-1901] was worn by officers from the waist belt and was suspended by three slings to the three brass suspension D rings and held documents, maps, orders and dispatches .
The badge of the Royal Scots Greys is derived from the copper gilt eagle surmounting the standard pole of the 45th French Infantry captured by Sergeant Charles Ewart of the 2nd Royal North British Dragoon Guards at the Battle of Waterloo 18th June 1815 [ later the Royal Scots Greys, Scotland's only cavalry regiment now The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys)
