First edition, 8vo (23.1 x 14.5cm), contemporary Indian binding of red morocco by the Education Society’s Press, Byculla (with their ticket to front pastedown), bevelled boards, spine and covers elaborately decorated in gilt, endpapers decorated with foliate pattern in gilt, 119 [1] pp., text in English and Persian, 16 lithographic portraits with tissue-guards, including the author, Nasir al-Din Shah, Emperor of Persia, and Indian rulers including the Maharajas of Patiala, Travancore, and Mysore, the Nizam of the Deccan, and others, additional title-page to rear (including statement ‘Carefully revised’, but this not apparently denoting the existence of an earlier edition), small area of indentations and corresponding wear to front board, Maharaja of Bhaunagar portrait with lower fore corner detaching, Nawab of Janjeera portrait lacking tissue-guard
