Description
Group of 8 photographs, all mounted, sizes vary between 21.65 x 29.5 x 22.5cm and 26.5 x 18.5cm:
7 Staff Sergeants, E. Company 79th Highlanders, sitters named in ink on mounts - McDonald, Lumsden, and others - dated 1872, some spotting and discolouration, edge fading, a pair;
8 Staff Sergeants, dated 1864, some edge fading;
Group of 5 Officers, named in ink on mount - Borthwick, Campbell, McCallum, and others - [n.d.], some foxing to mount;
Queen Victoria, Osborne House, Isle of Wight, 2 different images of a military ceremony, the first with ink inscription ‘View of Her Majesty accepting the old colours of the 79th at Osborne, April 22nd 1873’.
‘Entrance to the soldiers (sic) barracks at Parkhurst, Isle of Wight, 1873’, soldiers in uniform at barrack gates;
‘Military parade at Edinburgh Castle Esplanade 1876' (8)

Formerly owned by the late Murray Mackinnon, a renowned collector of photography documenting Scottish life from the mid-19th to early-20th century.
