The Holy Bible, containing the Old and New Testaments. Oxford: printed by John Baskett, 1726[-25]. 4to (24.7 x 18.3cm), full calf contemporary binding, gilt, panel design, boards scuffed, rebacked with maroon leather spine, raised bands with gilt tooling, three parts and the index are separately signed, N.T. title paged dated 1725, interleaved with plates from wholly engraved work 'The historical part of the Holy Bible ... in above two hundred historys curiously engrav'd by T. Cole' found in quarto bibles printed by Baskett from this period, lacking additional title page [Darlow & Moule, 974; ESTC T90359 & T130293];

with Jacobean armorial bookplate of Horace Walpole, 4th earl of Orford, on front pastedown.
Provenance
'Walpole left Strawberry Hill to his cousin, Anne Seymour Damer, for her life use and, ultimately, to the descendants of his favourite niece, Maria Walpole, Countess Waldegrave. In 1842 the 7th Earl of Waldegrave ordered the sale that was to scatter his great-great-uncle's books and other collections about the world' (W. S. Lewis, Horace Walpole's Library, p. 46).
