Folio in sixes (35.7 x 23cm), contemporary diced calf over wooden boards, embossed central design, with metal corners and 3 (of 4) metal anchor plates for 2 metal clasps (now missing), 6 double page maps by Bastiaan Stoopendaal (double hemispherical map, map depicting the Holy Land, map showing the area of the Children of Israel wandering in the desert, plan of Jerusalem, map showing Paul's travels, map showing the Promised Land of Canaan), hemispherical map detached, joints of binding cracking, spine lacking head and tail bands;

Provenance
From the collection of the late Professor Roland Paxton MBE FICE FRSE (1932-2025), 'Britain's foremost historian of civil engineering' (Telegraph, obituary, 12th November 2025). Professor Paxton was also a leading conservationist of Britain's engineering heritage, and led successful campaigns to restore two of the world's most important railway structures, the Laigh Milton Viaduct in Ayrshire, the world's oldest surviving railway bridge, and the Union Chain Bridge, the world's oldest suspension bridge still carrying road traffic.
