New edition, probably a variant or later issue of the second edition of 1853-7, 7 volumes, 8vo (21.6 x 13.5cm), contemporary green half morocco, spines in compartments with avian motifs in gilt, marbled boards, complete with 435 lithograph plates (hand-coloured lithographs of birds numbered 1-322, [105] hand-coloured lithographs of eggs and [8] uncoloured lithographs of birds), interleaved with tissue guards, light occasional spotting, 20th-century pictorial bookplates of J.
