A New Poem. [Edinburgh: for the author], May 1899. Printed broadside (24.8 x 18.5cm), signed by the author (‘Sir Wm. Topaz McGonagall, Poet’) in black ink, text printed in two columns, title and royal coat arms to head, a few marks, old folds, a couple of small nicks to left-hand edge

Very rare broadside poem by the infamous Scottish poetaster, declaiming the sights, scenes, industry and residents of Leith, from its historic municipal buildings to Bailie Gibson's fish shop, ‘most elegant to be seen’. One other copy traced in auction records (Lyon & Turnbull, 8 February 2023, lot 108), and one copy in libraries, at the National Library of Scotland.
