Nantes: Emile Grimaud et fils, 1901. First edition, 4to (29.4 x 22cm), finely bound by Zaehnsdorf in 1903 in green crushed morocco, gilt rose devices incorporating white morocco onlays to spine and covers, each cover with decorative centrepiece comprising Charles Edward Stuart's monogram ‘C E’ in gilt either side of gilt roundel containing motto ‘Mea res agitur’ around embossed white morocco rose motif, Royal Stewart tartan doublures, top edge gilt, others untrimmed, halftone frontispiece, extra-illustrated with the mezzotint portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart disguised as Betty Burke after his defeat at Culloden, by J. Williams (Sharp 218, mid-18th century, 29.4 x 21.5cm, closely trimmed, with 5-line satirical caption mounted to preceding blank), together with over 40 additional plates, mainly sepia photogravure reproductions of portraits, with the half-title, original wrappers bound in
