Gifted to his daughter, Mary Stewart Lockhart (1894-1985);
Presented by the above to George Watson’s College, Edinburgh in 1967;
Lent to the National Museums of Scotland, Edinburgh (2003-2025).

Wu Shujuan (1853-1930), courtesy name Xingfen, was a rare outstanding female painter during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic Period. Travelling through the scenic spots of eighteen provinces, she adhered to the principle of "learning from nature" and created numerous sketches. Her landscape painting style varied with the scenery, presenting a myriad of styles. In 1910, her work was exhibited at the Rome Exposition and was collected by the Queen of Italy at a high price, bringing her international acclaim.
吳淑娟 (1853-1930), 字杏芬,是清末民初罕見的傑出女畫家。她遊歷十八省名勝,堅持「師法自然」,創作了大量寫生作品,其山水筆法隨景而變,氣象萬千。1910年,她的作品在羅馬博覽會展出時,被意大利王后重金收藏,享譽國際。
