Footnote
Qian Huian (1833-1911), courtesy name Jisheng, was the first president of the "Yuyuan Calligraphy and Painting Benevolent Association" and one of the representative figures of the Shanghai School. He started his career as a folk painter, and his figures were mostly auspicious and celebratory subjects, with plump and fortunate appearances. He uniquely incorporated self-portraits into his paintings, infusing folk art with the style of literati painting. Cheng Shifa praised him as the "Master of Shanghai School."
