Rod Kelly, one of the UK’s most respected silversmiths, studied at Lancashire Polytechnic and the University of Central England before completing an MA in Silversmithing at the Royal College of Art (1980–1983) under John Bartholomew.
He is known for his mastery of low-relief chasing and his exquisitely detailed narrative vessels, often reflecting aspects of British folklore, nature, and history.
Working from his studio in Shetland, Kelly creates monumental silverwork, including civic commissions, trophies, and commemorative pieces. His clients have included St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths, and the late Queen Elizabeth II.
