Glasgow-born and GSA-trained (BA Hons, 2018), Rachel Hardie has quickly established herself as a distinctive voice in contemporary British silver.
Awarded the 2018 Goldsmiths’ Company Silversmithing Award at New Designers, she was later invited to be Artist-in-Residence at the Glasgow School of Art (2019)
Hardie’s work is celebrated for its hand-drawn aesthetic translated into metal using both precious and non-precious metals, heat patination, oxidisation, and solder joins left exposed as intentional, expressive marks. Inspired by Glasgow’s quirky architectural skylines, especially the iconic chimney pots, her pieces evoke an industrial narrative with imperfect charm.
