Peter Plöderl is an award-winning German jeweller, based in Heidelberg, whose work merges historical artefacts, vibrant gemstones and artisanal techniques to create unique, sculptural pieces of jewellery. His atelier, located in Heidelberg’s historic Altstadt, serves as both studio and showroom for his uncompromising approach to design.
Plöderl’s distinctive style revolves around the creative re-use of “found objects”, ancient coins, antiquities, amulets from Asia or Egypt, which he incorporates into contemporary settings of gold, silver and gem-encrusted surroundings. This synthesis of the old and the new results in jewellery that eludes easy categorisation: each piece functions as a bridge between archaeology, luxury design and wearable art.
Though his works remain relatively rare in the modern auction market, they attract international attention and strong collector demand. Their presence in specialised sales underscores Plöderl’s unique position in the luxury-jewellery field: one part artisan, one part historian, one part designer.
