We are delighted to announce that Head of Glasgow & the West James McNaught has become Head of Business Development for Lyon & Turnbull.
In James' new role as Head of Business Development, he will take on the responsibilties of developing and maintaining business opportunities and expanding Lyon & Turnbull's presence across the UK.
A graduate of Aberdeen University, James joined Lyon & Turnbull in 2011 to pursue his passion for Fine Art. During his tenure at the firm, James has moved from strength to strength, working closely with professional contacts and private clients, becoming Head of Glasgow & The West Coast in 2018 and an Associate Director in 2021.
Managing Director, Gavin Strang is excited about James taking on this new role, "James has been doing excellent work in Glasgow and across the west of Scotland. I very much look forward to him expanding his talents across the UK."
James has a passion for the history of collecting and in 2020 gained an M.Litt in Collecting & Provenance from the University of Glasgow. Over the last few years he has also curated a series of exhibitions at our Glasgow Gallery, including those on the work of Samuel John Peploe, The Glasgow Girls and currently 'The Enchanted World of Jessie M. King'.

In recent years, James's work with institutions and arts organisations has been broad. He has led Lyon & Turnbull’s partnership with The Burrell Collection (ArtFund Museum of the Year 2023); previously held positions such as Chair of the Hunterian Friends, leading their branch of supporters for the University of Glasgow; and worked with the Decorative Art Society, organising and leading Study Tours and Events. He also lectures on the auction market and various other subjects across the UK.
