Lyon & Turnbull is pleased to share that Alice Strang has been appointed as a Trustee to the Hugo Burge Foundation, alongside Dominic Goold, with both joining the Board to support the organisation’s continued development.

The appointment reflects a longstanding connection with Hugo Burge, built through collaboration on a number of projects including our 2025 auction, Makers & Creators. Burge was widely recognised not only as a collector, but as a passionate advocate for artists and makers, with a particular commitment to supporting the visual arts and crafts across the UK.

The Hugo Burge Foundation continues this vision, working to nurture creativity and sustain the traditions of making that were central to Burge’s life and work. His approach was deeply personal: he was as much a maker as a collector, engaging directly with materials and processes, and valuing the skill, imagination and dedication behind each object.

Pictured at the opening of our recent exhibition, A Collector's Passion, are the Foundation’s Creative Director Dr James Fox, Chief Executive Officer Lucy Brown and Chair and Founding Trustee Alan Martin, alongside the newly appointed Trustee and Senior Fine Art Alice Strang. The occasion marked not only a celebration of Burge’s legacy, but also the ongoing work of the Foundation in supporting artists and craftspeople today.

Through its programmes and partnerships, the Hugo Burge Foundation continues to champion creativity in all its forms, ensuring that Burge’s enduring belief in the value of art, craft and making remains active and relevant for future generations. We are delighted to continue supporting and championing the Foundation’s work and its ongoing impact.
