We are delighted to present our greatly anticipated Spring 2022 DESIGN Season! With our Design Since 1860 auction in Edinburgh and London sales of Lalique and Modern Made at the Mall Galleries, we are excited to celebrate over 160 years of exceptional design.

This April's sales encompass all the major design periods from the Aesthetic and Arts & Crafts Movements; Art Nouveau and Art Deco; Austrian Secession; Pre-War French and British Modernism, to works from the Mid-Century and Post-War period, including Italian and Nordic Design, European and American Modernism, Contemporary Design, Glass and Studio & Contemporary Ceramics.

The highly anticipated Spring edition of our DESIGN SINCE 1860 auction has arrived. Taking place live online and in Edinburgh on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 April, the sale features an exciting range of works by designers such as Christopher Dresser, Ferdinand Preiss, Edward Barnsley, Alphonse Mucha, Josef Hoffmann, Talwin Morris, Ernest Gimson, C. F. A. Voysey, William Moorcroft, Sir Robert Lorimer, George Walton, W.A.S. Benson and William Morris.

Next in the series will be our Spring 2022 LALIQUE auction, lead by specialist Joy McCall. Our April 2022 edition of the LALIQUE auction returns to the Mall Galleries with a wonderful array works by Lalique including a Private Collection of Car Mascots. The auction includes all 29 car mascots designed by Lalique with highlights including the rare Hibou, Renard and Cométe mascots.

Our Spring sale also includes an enticing selection of works by the iconic designer including vases, bowls, plates, boxes, drinking ware and figural work.

MODERN MADE | MODERN & POST-WAR ART, DESIGN & STUDIO CERAMICS

The final event in the series will be MODERN MADE: MODERN & POST-WAR ART, DESIGN & STUDIO CERAMICS. At the heart of the current edition is a collection of works from the exhibition Denmark: Design. Modern British Art also features strongly with works by three members of the Nicholson family and British post-war sculptors including Elisabeth Frink, Lynn Chadwick, Henry Moore, Robert Adams and William Turnbull, and a major, long-lost work by Ernest Procter.

Further highlights include a collection of jewellery from the estate of Wendy Ramshaw, significant ceramics by Lucie Rie, Grayson Perry and Akiko Hirai, and noteworthy art works by contemporary British artists Gilbert & George and Gary Hume, to name but a few.
