Lot 273

Auction: Day One: 09 July 2008 | From 12:00
£480
Description
Britannia bringing her dead hero to Britannia’s shore. London: I. Hinton, March 1, 1806. Framed, small size.
Note: Le Quesne 60. The White Ensign held aloft by the swimming lion, is incorrectly drawn. The ship blowing up in the background is presumably the Achille. There is a large version, the same in all respects except that the banner inscription is different. Not in the National Maritime Museum, Royal Naval Museum or the Nelson Museum at Monmouth.
