No 2. “Wilhelmina”. Beatrice M. L. Huntington
116 Hanover Street,
Edinburgh.
Beatrice Huntington spent her early years in St. Andrews, demonstrating a natural aptitude for art and music that led her to study abroad in Paris and Munich, where she flourished as an artist. In 1925, she married the painter William MacDonald and established herself within the Scottish art scene. Sharing a passion for travel, the couple explored the continent together, broadening their artistic horizons. Best known for her expressive portraiture, Huntington’s extensive and successful career was marked by continuous refinement of her style — evolving from soft, impressionistic works toward bolder, more stylized depictions with a cubist influence.
