the rectangular box with brass bound and studded edges, the cover inlaid with intertwine initials WS, the interior wit eighteen tinned division around a central section with lift our tray, the reverse with applied paper label reading SIR, WS, HIS DRESSINGROOM 1848

Note:
Although the label is dated after the death of Sir Walter Scott it seems likely this box came from his son, possibly inherited from his father. The unusual WS monogram to the cover is noted as having been used by Sir Walter Scott.
