Maclauchlan Milne first visited St Tropez in 1924, returning in the later years of the decade. His 1925 studio exhibition in Dundee included pictures from St Tropez and nearby Ramatuelle After many years exhibiting paintings of the North-West Highlands, Iona and then Arran, he returned to exhibiting those of St Tropez at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute in the late 1940s and 1950s.
