The Friendly Hunt was most likely connected with a Jacobite society in Worcester known as The Friendly Association. Founded in 1747, the Association met annually in rotation in the neighbouring towns of Droitwich, Bromsgrove, Kidderminster and Stourbridge.
There are similar examples found in the Victoria and Albert Museum (inv. no.C.257-1925), one in the Harding Collection, Christ Church College, Oxford and one sold by Bonhams, The Scottish Sale, 15th May 2019, lot 106.
