Likely converted from buttons, the circular terminals formed of concentric granulated borders, with simple elongated bar link, with 19th century manuscript labels ‘sleeve links belonging to Field Marshall Keith, son of 9th Earl Marischal and Marshall Keith son of 9th wore these links’

These continental gold sleeve links were likely original buttons from a waistcoat worn by George Keith (1693 – 1778), 10th Earl Marischal, when in exile and serving with the Jacobite court. Converted and worn in the 19th century as a relic of one of the family's most famous sons.
