Footnote
Little is recorded of Alexander Cunningham’s career; however, he is noted in various trade directories from 1852 – 1877 and sent work to Edinburgh for official hallmarking in 1871. His local marks are rarely recorded, so he likely acted as a retailer of other, already marked, wares and rarely produced and marked his own.
