Description
of octagonal form, hidden hinged top, the interior with the remnants of foil lining, the lid and four sides with scenes of transport, including a Mail coach and six horses to the lid, an early steam engine ‘North Star’ pulling the ‘Liverpool and Manchester Railway’ (After an engraving dated 1832-33 by SG Hughes) to the front, a scene of horse racing at Goodwood to the right side (After an engraving dated 1839 titled ‘Grandstand Goodwood), a hunting scene to the left side, and a scene of Burn's Cottage to the back, on four ebonised bun feet
