Description
Letter written by Robert Lecke in Stirling on 4th April 1746, twelve days prior to the Battle of Culloden, giving some account of the Highland Uprising taking place under the leadership of Prince Charles Edward Stuart, including information such as: "Sir Andrew Agnew with 500 men is still at Blair of Atholl, has been attacked several times by the Highlanders who played upon him with 2 pieces of small cannon about 3 powders..." and other details of skirmishes, taking prisoners and shipping, 4 pages (writing on 2 pages), each page 18.5x22.5cm, section lacking from second leaf with no loss of text, some slight dust-soiling and spotting, a couple of very small holes where paper has been folded with loss of a couple of letters, transcription available
