Provenance: Direct descent from an ex-proprietor of the Eglinton Arms Hotel in Irvine, Joe Cauldwell. In the mid-60's two unknown folk singers were engaged to provide entertainment in the public bar, the duo were Billy Connolly and Tam Harvey, later to become "The Humblebums." In 1968, Cauldwell got together with Arthur Argo to establish the Marymass Folk Fair with Billy and Tam at the top of the bill, effectively Billy's big break. Thereafter, Billy and Tam collaborated with Gerry Rafferty playing regularly at the hotel as Steelers Wheel performing songs such as Stuck in the middle with you.
