4 page letter of agreement, with terms, between Archibald Constable and Co., publishers and Sir William Forbes, Bart of Pitsligo, to publish an edition of the works of Dr. Beattie with a life by Sir William Forbes "which you are presently preparing" with William Forbes's written agreement to the terms, April 1804; James Ballantyne (1772-1833), publisher Two page A.L.S. to Archibald Constable "we are now very near the end of vol.2 of Life of Beattie and that perhaps it would be right to get the Index-maker to prepare a new index... it would oblige me beyond measure if "Mackenzie" were put in hand as soon as the other is out.
