Description

Footnote
Note: After listing the Captain [James Cheape], Medalholder [Samuel Messieux], Secretary [Charles Grace] and Chaplain [Professor Ferrie] members are listed by year of election, beginning with one surviving from 1782 [The Honble Lord Nairne] and those who have been captain or medal holder are identified as such.
There are noticeable surges in membership at times (1805 & 1806 for instance) and the 1820s show a considerable number of new members who were in the service of the Honourable East India Company. The names reveal a wide range of influential names - peers, baronets, senior army and naval officers, writers and advocates, clergy, members of parliament, etc.
