Carew and Bellamy's translation of Huarte's Examen de Ingenios (through the medium of Camillo Camilli's Italian version) has the strongest claim to be considered the first modern work on psychology in the English language. First printed in 1575, the work rapidly achieved European popularity and the status of a classic medical text.
