Rock & Co. (publisher)
London under Victoria [cover-title]

Rare Books, Manuscripts, Maps & Photographs
Auction: 07 February 2024 from 10:00 GMT
Description
London: Rock & Co., 1847. Aquatint, 54 x 73.5cm, titled 'London' at head, imprint lower left, sectionalised and laid on linen, folding into original cloth book-form case, with etched folding key plate (27 x 38cm, laid on linen) mounted to verso of front cover
Footnote
Very rare bird's-eye aquatint view of London looking north from Southwark, with 345 landmarks identified in the accompanying key plate, the northernmost including Highgate church, the Caledonian asylum and Canonbury tower. No other copy traced: this is a different work from Rock's Illustrated Map of London (which is purely a map with inset views rather than a view strictly speaking) and presumably also Rock's Illustrated Map of London under Victoria.
