Footnote
Note: This fine facsimile of the Domesday Book reproduces the original at actual size and was published in commemoration of the 900th anniversary year of Domesday. It was made possible by the rebinding of the original manuscript in the 1980's at the invitation of the Public Record Office in London. The oak covers of this 'Penny Edition' come from floor-boards originally installed in Tattingstone Hall, Suffolk, which was built around 1500.
