Jackson, Lesley, Robin & Lucienne Day: Pioneers of Contemporary Design, Hachette, London, 2011, p.65 illustrating examples of the Form Group range.
Designed by Robin Day for Hille, the ‘Form Group’ range was conceived as a modern alternative to the traditional three-piece suite and marked his first modular seating system, highlighting his innovative approach to furniture design. It received a Design Centre Award in 1961. The system allowed seating elements to be arranged alongside tables and drinks cabinets, with cushions supported by rubber webbing instead of conventional springs.
