The Peasant and his Wife by the Polish-Jewish artist Jankel Adler is a rare and major example of European Modernism painted in Britain. 

We are delighted to present the 14th edition of MODERN MADE, bringing together a carefully considered selection of modern and contemporary art, design, craft and studio ceramics. &nbsp;&nbsp;This sale reflects the environments in which these works were first created and collected, and how they continue to be lived with today. Highlights include a private collection of early 2000s contemporary art, offering a snapshot of a transformative moment in the global art world, alongside a strong core of Modern British Art spanning from Sickert to the post-war period and beyond.The sale also features works by key European artists including Klimt, Picasso and Braque, alongside a rare wartime masterpiece by <a href="/artists/jankel-adler">Jankel Adler</a>. Kinetic and Light Art is a further focus, exploring movement, perception and the interaction between object and viewer.&nbsp;Design plays a central role, led by an early Ettore Sottsass Carlton bookcase, alongside works by Gerald Benney and Breon O’Casey.
