Three-quarter plate gilt keyless winding movement with diamond endstone, overcoil hairspring, cut and compensated balance signed James Weir, 66 Buchanan Street, Glasgow and numbered, white enamel dial with fancy numerals, subsidiary seconds, blued steel hands, hinged 18k gold case with blue enamel chapter ring stamped with London hallmarks and casemaker PW, cuvette engraved ‘In memoriam, Alexander Allan Laird, 14th Sept 1892’
Accompanied by a James Weir presentation case and numbered Kew Observatory ‘Kew A’ certificate dated May 1891 awarding the James Weir pocket watch number 26912 a Class A mark of 71.8. Additional folding Kew Observatory Class A certificate similarly numbered and dated.
