Footnote
This textile panel, and lots 47 and 48, are wonderful examples of Resht embroidery - a traditional needlework art originating in the northern Iranian city of Resht. Known for its intricate chain-stitch designs sewn onto wool, felt, or velvet fabrics, this embroidery style flourished during the Safavid era and later became a celebrated symbol of Persian craftsmanship. Artisans typically create floral arabesques, birds, and geometric motifs using brightly colored silk threads, producing richly textured decorative pieces such as tablecloths, garments, wall hangings, and ceremonial textiles. The elegance and precision of Recht embroidery reflect the deep artistic heritage of Iran, blending local folk traditions with classical Persian aesthetics.
