Philip Gough (1908-1986) was an illustrator, born in Warrington, Lancashire, who studied at Liverpool School of Art and Chelsea School of Art and originally trained as a stage designer. He was also a noted book illustrator, including reprints of Austin's Pride and Prejudice (1951), Mansfield Park (1957) and Sense and Sensibility (1958) for Macdonald publishers and the dust jackets for several Georgette Heyer novels.
