Provenance
Provenance: Originally the property of General Sir Frederick William Traill-Burroughs KCB CMG (British 1831 – 1905) and formed part of the contents of Trumland House, Rousay, Orkney. The house was built and furnished for Sir Traill-Burroughs in 1873, taking up residence after his marriage. The house and selected contents were purchased by the current vendor in 1980. It is believed he had these drill models after he returned home from India with the 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot in 1870. After a spell in command at Edinburgh Castle he eventually retired from the regiment in October 1873.
