Note: Especially popular in the 19th century were simple counter weighted balancing toys which could be set in motion with just the touch of a hand. Popular nineteenth-century examples of the toy included a Dancing Lady, who made pirouettes while balanced on a single foot, and a parrot perched on a ring.
