The principle maker and patriarch James Mein died in 1830 and the business passed to his nephew, also called James, who ran the company until its bankruptcy in 1851. Known for producing furniture of high quality, they counted among their clients the 5th and 6th Dukes of Roxburghe for Floors Castle, and the Earl of Haddington for Mellerstain.
