Provenance; The Dukes of Hamilton, Lennoxlove House, Haddington, East Lothian
Hamilton in 1946 and an extensive programme of redecoration was later initiated under aegis of John Fowler.
It is thus probable that this lot was moved into Lennoxlove after 1946 and may have originally been at Hamilton Palace.
The lot is sold on behalf of The Lennoxlove Trust, a registered charity set up to provide funds for the preservation of the fabric of this historic place; three tapestries towards this fund were sold in these rooms on 5th December last year.
