We are delighted to present a fine private collection of silver in our Design Since 1860 auction on 15 & 16 April, celebrating the silver makers' art.

Head of Sale John Mackie and Lyon &amp; Turnbull’s Design team were delighted to present the Spring 2026 DESIGN Since 1860 auction on 15 and 16 April. Held during the Lyon &amp; Turnbull’s 200th year, the sale reflects a long-standing commitment the study, presentation and sale of design and decorative arts. Spanning over 150 years of innovation, the auction brought together exceptional works from the Arts &amp; Crafts and Aesthetic Movements, Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the Modern movements. Strong prices were achieved throughout, led by the Labours of the Months tile panels by Morris, Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Ford Madox Brown for Morris, Marshall, Faulkner &amp; Co., which realised £94,700 incl premium. Further highlights included works by John Henry Dearle, Edward Barnsley, Omar Ramsden, Christopher Dresser, William Moorcroft, Elyse Ashe Lord and Demétre Chiparus.<blockquote>“The exceptional result achieved by these striking tiles in lot 108 reflects both their rarity and their early production within William Morris’s emerging firm in the early 1860s. Combined with the strength of their design and the significance of the artists behind them, they proved irresistible to collectors selling for a premium inclusive price of £94,000.” - John Mackie, Director &amp; Head of Design.</blockquote>The sale also included By Hammer and Hand: Silver from a Private Collection, which achieved a 91% sell-through rate, led by an Arts &amp; Crafts Comport, 1904, by C. R.
