Footnote
All Burmantofts 'Anglo-Persian' wares bear the initials of the decorator Leonard King. These wares made their first documented appearance at the Saltaire Exhibition in 1887 and were inspired by the 'Persian' wares of William de Morgan. Large pieces such as the present lot were expensive to produce and are rare examples.
