Footnote
The suite of six designs for a church at Melton Constable in Norfolk, although carrying the unidentified monogram ‘M’ rather than Spooner's signature, were acquired by Dr Alec Hamilton as part of the ‘Cruickshank Portfolio' of Spooner's designs, which formed the basis of his monograph on Spooner and is the source of the majority of the Spooner designs now offered for sale by Lyon & Turnbull (see Charles Spooner, pp. 7 and 279).
Illustrated: Hamilton, Charles Spooner, pp. 220 ('Sketch for Proposed Keeper's Cottage …'), 221 (one of the designs titled 'Game-Keeper's Cottage …'), 241 (the two unidentified houses).
