Established in Birmingham around 1847, the firm was originally called Newton, Jones & Willis. By 1858 they were known as Jones & Willis. By this date they held the royal warrant as silk mercers and over the next seventy-five years produced more than eighty illustrated catalogues of church furnishings, both textile & furniture. George Edmund Street (1824–1881) designed a series of ecclesiastical furnishings for the firm in the late 19th century.
