Description
London: L. Harrison & J.C. Leigh for J. Jenkins, [n.d.]. Large 4to., (35.5 x 28 cms.), engraved title-page with hand coloured vignette, 53 (including the frontispiece and dedication plate) hand coloured engraved aquatints, by T. Sutherland, D. Harvell, & Dubourg after Heath, without the list of subscribers and the portrait of the Duke of Wellington, contemporary red morocco, marbled boards, edges rubbed and worn, corners knocked, top cut from front free endpaper, upper inner joint cracked, frontispiece loose, edges of frontispiece slightly frayed and stained, light water staining in the corners of the upper margins of later signatures, margins of a few plates a little dusty.
Note: Abbey Life 365; Tooley 281. Tooley noting that the work is considered complete without the portrait of Wellington. Originally issued in 1814-15, the plates in this copy are either unwatermarked or with the date 1825, except for a couple watermarked 1827.
