First printed edition, 2 volumes, large folio, (46 x 28.5 cms) original marbled boards, modern half calf, occasional pages a little discoloured.
Note: Updike Printing types Volume II pp. 121-122. Issued in 1783 without a title-page, under the direction of Abraham Farley, this is the first printed edition of the Domesday. The special types were cut by Joseph Jackson. The Record Commission issued title-pages (from where this entry is taken) in 1816 along with a further 2 volumes. of Indices and Additatemnta. Of the 1783 volumes., 1200 copies were issued at a total cost of £38,000.
