Description
Full pigskin binding, the covers and spine with blind tooled decorations within panels formed by a border of triple blind fillets, the upper cover with a central oval of Adam and Eve and other panels showing the tree of life, souls in torment, etc., the spine lettered in Gothic lettering between raised bands, the lower cover with coat-of -arms and the motto "over fork over" for Cunnynghame, between oblong decorative panels of stylised foliage, brass clasps to a design of Phoebe Traquair, consisting of winged masks, the closing bars of the clasps monogrammed with the initilas of the binder and J.M. Talbot, Edinburgh's leading Art & Craft silversmith. Binding over a series of mountedcollotype prints of an illuminated MS version of Tennyson's In Memoriam by the binder, sm.4to
