Footnote
One of the first chess books printed in India, published 15 years after Shastree's Essays on Chess (Bombay, 1814). One copy traced in UK libraries, at the British Library, with seven further copies in European and North American libraries. In the British Library copy the title-page contains the imprint of Madras's Courier Press below the date (apparently ink-stamped rather than printed).
