Description
53 diapositive glass lantern slides (numbered 1-54 but lacking no. 25), 8.3 x 8.3cm, depicting scenes mainly in what are now Mozambique (Quilimane), Malawi (Blantyre), Zambia (Mwenzo), Tanzania (Rumbira, Ujiji), including places connected to David Livingstone, and native peoples including ‘Mlozi and his Bodyguard’, ‘Ruga-Ruga returning after a Raid, Ujiji’, ‘Mleso, Head of the Tonga Carriers', and similar, housed in a hinged wooden case with the label of W. Watson & Sons, Opticians and Mathematical Instrument Makers

Mlozi was the leader of a band of Arab slave traders in the African Great Lakes region who was killed by the British in 1895.
